Finally, design week right in my own backyard!  This week San Francisco is buzzing with the celebration, discussion, and showcasing of the wide ranging innovations in the field of design.  We’re not just talking about interior design.  Design week focuses on the larger concept of design from technology and graphic design to architecture and furniture design.  With San Francisco being one of the great modern day hubs for creativity and invention, it’s no surprise that some of the biggest names in the industry will be presenting their work and most events are already sold out.

The Emerging Bay Area Designers exhibition is definitely on our radar for June 6th.  The two day exhibit will feature up-and-coming furniture designers.  These artists develop their own concepts and styles and then craft and produce the final product.  The event will be held in the Dogpatch neighborhood at ShopFloor, a showroom and metal shop.  The featured designers include Galanter & Jones, Alexis Moran, Mike Danielson, J Liston Design, blankblank, and ShopFloor Design.

Another event we hope to sneak in is the cocktail party at the Museum of Craft and Design (June 4th, 6-9pm) where two new exhibits are on view, “Constructed Communication” and “Lines That Tie”.  Also, the Open Studios are always a source of inspiration.  This two night event (June 7th and June 8th) is held at galleries, studios, shops, and start-ups throughout the city.  Not only can you get up close to the designs but you get to meet the designers and curators behind some of most well known brands in the design world.
