San Francisco Shopping Guide – Hayes Valley

Most people think the satisfaction of interior design comes from the big reveal moment when the space is camera-ready and fully polished.  For us at Coddington Design, we believe that developing and curating the design along the way to that moment is not only critical but also one of the best parts of this job!  From furniture and lighting to accessories and artwork, we enjoy the hunt for finding the perfect items for our clients’ visions.  One of our favorite places to find unique and expertly crafted design pieces is Hayes Valley in San Francisco.  Here’s a look at a few of our favorite places!

Plantation – 336 Hayes Street

We always make a stop at Plantation whenever we are looking for a beautiful statement piece to complete a room.  Focusing on a diverse selection of colors, textures, and finishes in styles ranging from classic to modern, there’s always an inspired collection of items that will fit any design.  Plantation can also customize items and that allows us to incorporate the personal preferences of our clients into the overall design.

Maker & Moss – 364 Hayes Street

Just a few steps away from Plantation on Hayes Street is Maker & Moss. This store specializes in home goods with a focus on natural shapes and materials.  They work closely with local artists and craftspeople so the products are unique. The interior of Maker & Moss reflects the vision of the store. Their store has natural wood beams and ceiling, concrete floors, bright white walls, and original brick.  Artist-made products such as wall art, maps, and ceramics are surrounded by leather and fabric upholstered pieces, natural wood casegoods, and perfect gift giving items.

Minimal – 364 Hayes Street

And right next door to Maker & Moss is Minimal. As its name implies, the theme here is more minimalist and streamlined in design.  That doesn’t mean these items are overly simplistic.  Their contemporary designs have a Scandinavian aesthetic in a range of items from pillows and tableware, to furniture and lighting. This was our store for final touch accessories for our Nantucket project (stay tuned for photos!) and it is the perfect place to complete or spruce up your home!
