Wine Country Design February 23, 2017
Ram’s Gate Winery
With rain soaking the San Francisco Bay Area, we’ve been daydreaming about sunnier days in one of our favorite spots – Wine Country. Not only is the wine worth the trip but the design is inspiring as well. To encourage an early spring, we plotted out a trip to Napa Valley with a couple of our favorite wineries that are required destinations for any day trip through Wine Country.
We had the pleasure of working with this winery during the Traditional Home Napa Valley Showcase. Liana Estates is a family owned and operated winery in the Carneros region of Napa Valley. From small bites in their tasting gazebo to local wine and culinary picnics in their vineyard, Liana Estates creates a delicious and idyllic experience. Their recently renovated tasting room features a dramatic living wall, warm reclaimed woods, leather banquette seating, and an expansive wine bar at the center.
Ram’s Gate opened just 5 years ago with the mission of creating the finest wines and a beautiful environment to enjoy them. Ram’s Gate, designed by Odada and Backen, Gillam & Kroeger Architects, is stunning with a measured degree of subtlety. Throughout the design palette you will find soft grays and beiges, warm woods creatively used above fireplaces and along walls and ceilings, stone flooring, and consistent oversized pendant lighting. The addition of antiques accent the neutral tones while pops of greenery found inside and outside deliver a crisp freshness.
We love taking off for a long weekend in Napa Valley to explore new wineries or follow recommendations of friends. Another great source to discover new wineries is California Home+Design’s annual Wine Country Awards. We are patiently awaiting the spring edition in which this year’s winners will be announced. California Home+Design does an exceptional job of showcasing not only the tasting rooms but spas, restaurants, hotels, and architecture at these beautiful wineries. We can’t wait to add a few new ones to our own list as we’ll be spending time in Sonoma working on a private tasting room for one of our clients!
