Are you following our San Francisco Modern Reveal? If not, you’re missing out. Today, we’re continuing the tour with this couple’s serene and peaceful bedroom designs. P.S. Read until the end for a glimpse of a cheeky powder room with an unexpected surprise.

In Case You Missed It…

If you’re just joining us, here’s a quick recap. After undergoing a remodel of their home, this professional couple hired us to fully furnish their spaces. They wanted their home to reflect the spirit of their hip San Francisco neighborhood and their active lifestyle. From the living areas to the bedrooms, we supported this young couple in creating an inviting, relaxing, and stylish home in all the best ways. Step right in…

Serene & Peaceful Primary Bedroom

Ready to grab your favorite book and snuggle up on that settee morning coffee in hand? Don’t mind if I do. To let the scenery shine, we kept the design and color palette minimal and neutral, setting the tone for a tranquil and serene backdrop. The epitome of relaxation.

To complement the hardwood flooring, we grounded the sleeping area with an oversized, woven area rug that feels plush and cozy underfoot (especially when Karl the Fog rolls in). And who would want to leave this relaxing, cloud-like bed? Perfect for lazy Sunday mornings.

To balance out the cool, calming tones in the room, we incorporated a touch of warmth with a set of mid-century modern wooden nightstands and custom bed frame. The contrast immediately catches your eye. Complementing the chrome sconces above, this creates a subtle and peaceful modern minimalist vibe throughout the space. Bonus: The nightstands’ open shelving provides the perfect opportunity to display stylish decorative elements like textured bowls and books.

To add depth and softness to the room, we layered textiles in hues and tones of gray and blue on the custom headboard, bench, bed pillows, and duvet. And let’s not forget about those beautiful, playful pendants — their warm glow reminiscent of paper lanterns adds pure magic to the space.

Fun fact: We almoooost couldn’t get their king-sized bed up the narrow stairs. Shy away from a challenge? Never.

Bright & Cheerful Guest Room

In the guestroom, we opted for a more cheerful and welcoming approach to the furnishings. Similar to the primary bedroom, the walls and windows serve as a neutral backdrop, but we used a playful pop of color to accent this space. The plush and comfortable bedding is accented with yellow, gray, and a black-and-white checked decorative pillow, along with a chunky woven throw blanket.

You might remember from our first reveal, the black iron beam on the first floor inspired most of the home’s furnishings. To keep the whole home feeling cohesive, we used it as a reference point when selecting the iron black bed frame as the focal piece in this guest room. And, as it turned out, what appeared to be a challenge at first ended up being a moment of brilliant creativity. It feels grounded and balanced.

The light-colored hardwood flooring is complemented by a woven, gray and oatmeal-colored area rug. But our favorite piece? The matching yellow nightstand. Love. The use of yellow accent pieces and droplet-like waterfall pendants add a playful touch, resulting in a welcoming and happy atmosphere.

Overall, this guest bedroom is a bright and inviting space perfect for hosting family and friends. The only problem? They might never want to leave.

Hip Powder Bathroom with an Unexpected Surprise

For this fun-loving couple, incorporating unique wallpaper was an absolute must, and we loved incorporating these cheeky designs throughout this home. I’m not sure what we love more: the opera-goers chatting away in the dining room wallpaper or the Alien Toile pattern in this powder room. If you look long enough, you’ll notice the campers being abducted by the UFOs. 😉

To complement the look, we combined a warm wood mirror ledge, white cabinetry, a charcoal-colored quartz countertop, and extra-long subway tiles for added width and an eye-catching finish. The perfect nod to our client’s love of nature and playful personalities. Perfection.

That’s it for the SF Modern Reveal, but why not use this as inspiration for your own home? Or better yet, let us do it for you. When the timing’s right, you know where to find us.

Cheers,
Melanie
