If you’re like us, you’re trying to figure out what’s happening for the upcoming holidays. Maybe you’re not traveling this year, or maybe this year the entire fam isn’t coming over. This is a great time to make the memories count with a small guest list, or just your immediate crew. Get the spouse and kiddos involved with decorating the house or becoming sous chef for the day. Let’s peek at some great ideas and pieces for scaled back entertaining and how to elevate the holidays in little ways.

PUT IT ALL OUT THERE

Decking all the halls for a select few, but why not go all out and make the day extra special? Use the good flatware, chargers and linens at your small table this year. Light the candles, put out the pretty plates and don’t forget to support your local winery with a glass (or two+) of their best. We love the blush linen look with simple earthy plates and gold flatware. I recently downsized my big oval dining table to a small round that seats 4. There is something great about sitting in a circle, being able to see & hear everyone and really engage during meals.

TAKE OUT IN THE GREAT OUTDOORS

If you live in a warmer climate and can take advantage of it, take your party outside! Pack a gourmet picnic (leave the paper plates at home) and soak in the great outdoors. You don’t even have to cook, takeout is even more delish with nature as a backdrop. Maybe it’s a Friendsgiving brunch with your besties or a kid themed New Years Eve. Virtual cocktail parties and tastings will be in overdrive this winter, why not embrace the picnic table and scenery & take it outside?

While the holidays this year may not look like what we’re used to, the best traditions could just be the new ones you create this year.
